ACHIEVEMENT REINFORCEMENT CENTER
The Achievement Reinforcement Center opened its doors in December 2006. The A.R.C. was created to offer truant or suspended students with a classroom environment that provides instructors and individual assistance with classroom assignments.
The objective: To provide truant and/or suspended students an opportunity to continue with class assignments while suspended from school.
REFERRAL PROCEDURES

Truancy Center (714) 565-5400: If an administrator wants to assign a suspended student to the ARC, they must call the truancy center upon suspension of a student and obtain approval from the School Resource Officer or the District Safety Officer. (If either the SRO and/or DSO are unavailable contact Police Services.)

A.R.C. Referral Form: A space has been provided on the referral form for you to insert the name of the A.R.C. member whom you spoke with that has granted approval for your student to attend ARC. (Approved by ARC member (Name)

When the parent is informed that their suspended student has been assigned to ARC, it is very important that you inform the parent that they must drop off and pick up the student, from the ARC Center. If a parent is unable to drop off or pick up their student it is there responsibility to make other arraignments.

ARC Center arrival time is 7:30 am.

Tardies will be referred back to the school for further discipline.

Please advise the parent and student that if the student fails to appear at the ARC Center as assigned the student will be counted as truant. Chronic truants will be recommended for the School Attendance Review Board (SARB) for court processing with the district attorney’s office.

School administrators: Please make sure that you send the student with home- work assignments that will last for the duration of the assigned suspension. This will assist the student with obtaining credit while assigned to the A.R.C. Centers.

A.R.C. Center Attendance: The ARC Officer will contact the attendance clerk at the student’s school every day to verify student’s attendance. You must provide the student’s school ID number, name of school and attendance phone number on the referral form.
