School Attendance is a Parents' Responsibility
Under California Law it is your legal responsibility as a parent to make sure that your child attends school on a daily basis. By fullfilling your duty you will teach your child important lessons about responsibility and accountability that last a lifetime.
Suggested ways to support your child:
- Build a relationship with your child's teacher and school staff
- Volunteer at your child's school
- Help your child with homework
- Reinforce the importance of education and going to college
- Encourage participation in after school activities
- Establish good study habits
- Set a regular bedtime schedule
- Establish rules and consequences for breaking rules, and then follow through
- Praise your child for good behavior and accomplishments
- Pick up homework, if your child can not attend class
- Communicate with your child
- Be a friend to your child.... Be a parent!
